Bird Photography 101 and Beyond

  • HSV Audubon 150 Ponderosa Lane Hot Springs Village, AR, 71909 United States (map)

Many HSV Audubon members are excellent bird photographers, and many more would like to be.

Here’s their chance: Audubon will present “Bird Photography 101 and Beyond” as its May 11 program .

Coronado Center auditorium on MAY 11 at 10 a.m.

Alexandra Mathews-Woodcock, a professional photographer, will share tips on how to capture great shots, mostly of birds in our backyard feeders and birdhouses. She will also discuss equipment, from cell phones to 35mm cameras, including the use of various lenses, and said, “The best camera is the one you have with you.”

Mathews-Woodcock has always loved animals and wildlife and decided after retiring from her career as a librarian to combine this love with her photography expertise. She has photographed rescue and shelter pets to help with their adoptions, and she does “end-of-life” photo sessions with owners and their ailing or aging pets.

She also enjoys photographing birds and considers it an artistic challenge to capture them in flight, foraging in their natural habitat, or scuffling for space at a bird feeder.
