Some birds pull duty as pollinators.

Always a welcome speaker, Dr. Dan Scheiman, will present The Pollination Life of Birds at our meeting Friday, April 14 at 10 a.m. in the Coronado Center.

The decline of bees and Monarchs grabs national attention because they are such important pollinators. Some birds also play the important role of pollinator. Dr. Scheiman will detail the tight relationship between nectarivorous birds and their plants using examples from around the world.

Dr. Scheiman is the Bird Conservation Director for Audubon Arkansas. He has a B.S. from Cornell University, M.S. from Eastern Illinois University, and Ph.D. from Purdue University.

He and his staff monitor birds and other wildlife, restore wildlife habitat, and help Arkansans improve their local environments.

He has been birding for over 25 years.  In the 12 years he has lived in Arkansas he has seen 360 of the 418 bird species documented in the state.
