One of the most exciting natural phenomena will happen on April 8, 2024, and residents of Hot Springs Village will have front-row seats.
A total solar eclipse will occur, beginning over the south Pacific Ocean and crossing North America over Mexico, the United States and Canada.
The partial eclipse will begin at 12:33 p.m. for viewers in Arkansas and reach its peak at 1:52 p.m.
HSV Audubon will be involved in POA events to maximize the experience for Villagers, and has invited James Wilborn, park superintendent at Lake Ouachita State Park, and Emily Stubblefield, park interpreter, to give a presentation titled “What to Know about Viewing the April 8, 2024, Eclipse.” The presentation will be held at the
Coronado Center auditorium on February 9 at 10 a.m.
The speakers will discuss the best places to view the eclipse and how to plan for this unique life experience.

James Wilborn is the park superintendent at Ouachita State Park and has worked in park management, conservation and education for more than 30 years.
Emily Stubblefield has worked for Arkansas State Parks since 2019 and is a park interpreter.
