Janet Carson will be our guest speaker for February, presenting "Planting/Gardening for Birds" with specific plants and gardening/landscaping tips, followed in March by Jack and Pam Stewart who will present the Arkansas Audubon Bird Friendly Yard certification program.
Janet is well known throughout Arkansas as a columnist for The Democrat-Gazette and for her gardening expertise.
Janet has been the Extension Consumer Horticulture Specialist and statewide Master Gardner coordinator with the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture System Cooperative Extension Service since 1992. She travels all 75 counties doing horticulture programming.
In addition to her popular gardening column in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette each week, Janet does monthly feature stories in the Arkansas Living Magazine and Arkansas Gardener Magazine, and her weekly television spots are taped at Garvan Woodland Gardens. She is the 2017 Extension Employee of the Year and has won numerous awards over the years. She has two books “In the Garden” and “Field to Feast”.
Janet has a B.S. Degree in Urban Horticulture and Landscape Design, University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, 5-1980 and M.S. Degree in General Agriculture with a minor in Horticulture, University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, August 1992. Janet is married with two grown children and three dogs.
