February is the time for Woodcock to migrate through Arkansas. These are one of the oddest of all birds; get your guidebooks out or go online to "all about birds" to get more information.
If interested meet Vic at the "just outside the East Gate" parking area at 7:30 this Wednesday, 2/13, for a short drive to the Middle Fork Barrens. The 1-mile roundtrip walk is gentle but you will want your rubber boots.
Woodcock were there Sunday but no guarantees. If found the birds will almost certainly be flushed flying birds. We'll target only Woodcock but there may be chances for Fox Sparrows. We should be back by 10.
