Field Trip - Members only
Sign up now for a Native Plant Walk at Cedar Creek Trail on Friday, April 20, starting at 9:00.
The walk will be led by Susan Hooks, Forest Botanist/Ecologist, Forest Service, Ouachita National Forest and President of Arkansas Native Plant Society.
Even though Susan is a botanist, she sometimes helps with checking bears in the Ouachita National Forest.
Meet at Parking Lot A. Because parking will be an issue, if you know a friend is coming, please carpool. Overflow can park along San Sebastian Dr or up the hill back near the POA building. Walk will end by 11:30, but obviously, you may leave as needed.
Even after all the rains and flooding along the trail, signs of spring have begun to show. Yesterday I saw the first Blood Root, Rue Anemone, and Spring Beauty. By April 6, many plants will be on display, and Susan will find and identify everything of interest.
