HSV Audubon recently presented its 2023 President’s Award to Wayne Krone and, posthumously, Harry Cervenka.
Since 2016, Wayne and Harry have spearheaded birdseed sales, HSV Audubon's primary fundraiser. They raised thousands of dollars annually for scholarships for area school children to attend Halberg Ecology Camp, as well as other programs.
Both men served on the board, volunteered whenever the organization needed help, and enthusiastically participated in field activities such as bluebird monitoring and Christmas Bird Count.
Because of their exemplary service, we are honored to recognize Harry Cervenka, posthumously, and Wayne Krone with the President’s Award for 2023, our chapter’s highest honor. Their names will be added to the permanent plaque in the lobby of the Coronado Center. Janet Rowe, president 2023, presented the awards.
The entire Hot Springs Village Audubon Society deeply feels Harry’s absence. Harry’s passion for birds left a mark on our organization and community. We are donating a bluebird box and platform feeder with brass plaques as award recognition for his family's memorial garden. A memorial plaque to Harry has also been added at Beaver Dam Trail.
