Winter 2017

Your Hot Springs Village Audubon Board would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. It has been our pleasure serving you this year. We hope the meetings, programs, field trips etc. have been meaningful experiences for you.

Our December Christmas gathering prior to the meeting was a thank you for your help making us a thriving and growing organization. I have enjoyed being your President this past year. Seeing all of you out there in the audience, alert and interested, was a pleasure. A shared love of nature is special. Your stories of sightings are always fun to hear. They make the birder in us want to get out and find that bird. We are so fortunate to live in the Village with lakes, woods and open golf courses for birding diversity! This morning I watched an Eagle breakfast on squirrel right outside my window! That was so exciting! (Well, maybe not for the squirrel)

I will be stepping down as your President and Norma Wall will take over in 2018. Norma has been co-VP this past year. She is the mastermind of our superb new website, hsvbirds.org. She also writes our program articles for the newspaper and does publicity for the bird seed sales. She is very energetic and will take our Club forward! Karen Geiger will remain our Vice President and is busy lining up exciting programs for next year. Laurel Gunderson will remain Secretary and Kathleen Baal remains treasurer.

Our Club could not function without all our committee heads. I would like to thank each of them for their hard work over the years. If you get a chance thank them. And remember, when an opening happens, step up and say “Yes, I can do that”. We need you!

2018 is lining up to be another great year, so hope you will all renew your membership soon. You receive so many excellent programs for the price!

Remember starting in March 2018, Audubon will meet the second Thursday of the month at 10:00 a.m. See you there. HAPPY NEW YEAR!! May 2018 be a good year for each of you.

Health and Happiness!
